Leonardo Da Vinci family

Somehow we all knew Leonardo Da Vinci as a great painter who paints the famous painting Mona Lisa.  Leonardo Da Vinci was known as a  great artist and architect. He was born on 15 April 1452 inAnchiano Tuscany (now Italy). Close to the town of Vinci which provided as a surname to him. His father SerPiero was an attorney and notary and mother Caterina was a peasant. His parents were not married. Leonardo Da Vinci spent his first 5 years with his mother. Then his mother wed another man and began a new family. After that in 1457, Leonardo lived in Vinci with his father’s family.

Steps towards success

Leonardo received an informal education in Latin, Geometry, and mathematics. In 1466 after the age of 14 Leonardo apprenticed as a studio boy under  Andrea del Verrocchio. He was a great Italian painter, sculptor, and goldsmith who was master of an important workshop in Florence. Leonardo worked there for 7 years.

By 1472 at the age of 20, Leonardo Qualified as a master in the “Guild of Saint Luke” the Guilt of artists. His father suggested him to set up his own workshop, But he had an attachment with Verrocchio. So he continued to collaborate with him. Leonardo’s first work is a drawing in pen and ink of an “Arno Valley” which drawn on 5 August 1473.

In 1982 he shifted to Milan or work. He stayed in Milan from 1482 to 1499. He was drawn to the painting the virgin of rock and the last supper for the monastery of Santa Maria Delle Grazie. In 1485 Leonardo Traveled to Hungary on behalf of Duke of Milan Ludovico  Sforza to meet Matthias Corvinus and was Commissioned by him to paint Madonna.

Challenging moments

Leonardo employed on many different projects for Ludovico including the preparation of Float for special occasions. He also Designs dome for Milan Cathedral and a modal for a huge equestrian monument to Francesco Sforza. 70 tons of bronze were collected by Ludovico. Then Leonardo began making detailed plans for its casting. Michelangelo insulting him by saying that he is unable to cast it. On 20 December 1493, he stated his readiness to begin the casting process. But in November 1494, Leonardo gave the bronze to be used for cannon to defend the city from invasion by Charles VIII.

When Milan invaded by the French in 1499 and the Sforza family fled then Leonardo escaped. Leonardo spent 17 years in Milan until the Ludovico fall from power.

Leonardo’s father had died in 1504. In 1507 he was back in Florence to shot out problems with his brothers over his father’s estate. By 1508 he was back to Milan living his own house is porta Orientale in the Parish of Santa Babila. In 1515 the king Francis I of France recaptured Milan. Leonardo left Italy for good in 1816. When France ruler Francis I generously offered him the title of Premier Painter, Engineer, and architect to the king. on  2 May 1519, Leonardo Da Vinci died at Cloux(now Clos Luce) at age of 67. His last word was ” I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have.”

Leonardo was a very generous person. In the early 1490s, Leonardo began filling a notebook of thousands of pages related to 4 broad themes like painting, architecture, mechanics, and human anatomy. He believed that science and art are both complementary for each other. Leonardo explains How to understand science through art. He designed a flying mechanical machine by observing birds. He was the first person who explained why the sky color looks blue.

Leonardo da Vinci was an Ambidextrous,  that means can use both hands at a time. On the one hand, he could write as well as by the other hand he could paint.  He very well knew the mirror writing. And lots of his book was written in mirror writing. In 1994  “Bill gates” buy a book which written by Leonardo which name is “Codex Hammer” in $30 million. This book is a collection of scientific writing. This book also is written in mirror writing. Bill gates use some pages of that book as Window 9 screen saver. After 3 years he releases its digital version for all.

Knowledge In Other Field

Leonardo da Vinci knows about animal body structure. In his book, he details mentioned about the body structure of a horse. He also knows all about the human body structure and how a Human body moves and works. He was vegetarian because he loved animals and birds. So he buys birds to release them.

Leonardo invented much mechanical equipment and design. He invented the design of the parachute, the Helicopter, tank, and much more in the 15th century.  He did a lot of paintings but from them, 2 are the most important paintings. The first one is the”last supper” and the second one is the “Mona Lisa”. In the paintingthe last supper Leonardo shows the Jejus take the last meal before hanging.

Mona Lisa

Leonardo starts Mona Lisa painting from 1503 and it takes 7 years to fully finish the painting. In Italy, Mona Lisa means “My Lady”. For this painting, he didn’t use any paper or canvas. He painted by oil color on the poplar wood panel. It probably the most famous and expensive painting in the world. Now its cost is $850 Million. Guinness World Records lists Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa as having the highest ever insurance value for a painting. now it hangs in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. On 21 Aug 1911, a thief had stolen the Mona Lisa painting and catch at the time of selling it. then once a woman tries to make harm to the painting. After then the painting protected by bulletproof glass and high security.

In Mona Lisa painting the most mysterious thing is its smile. You can see a different type of smile from a different angle. In research, it was found that in Mona Lisa’s painting there are 83% happy, 9% sad, 7% mysterious, and 1% satisfied. But there is no proper statement who is Mona Lisa. In this painting, Leonardo writes some letters ( La risposta Si trova qui) Which Means (the answer lies here).  But it is still mysterious for all, No one could found what Leonardo tries to say.
