Aryabhata Birth

Aryabhata was the first of the mathematician, astronomers from the ancient age of Indian mathematics and astronomy. There is no particular evidence about the birth of Aryabhata. But it believes that he was born in 476CE at Kusumapura Bihar India. He studied at Nalanda University.

Aryabhata Discover

His Most  2 major work is to publish Aryabhatiya and Arya-Siddhanta. In 499CE at the age of 23, he wrote Aryabhatiya. At that time there was no computer or calculator. But still, he mentioned the exact calculation of earth and sun distance, Earth moves around the sun. And also the Earth is heliocentric. All these types of theories mentioned their accurate distance and dimension. Aryabhata mentions in the Aryabhatiya that “it was composed of 3600 years into the Kali Yuga When he was 23 years old”. This corresponds to 499CE and implies that Aryabhata was born in 476CE.

Aryabhata was the head of an institution (Kulapa) at Kusumapura.  and he also had an astronomical observatory at Nalanda University. Aryabhata is the author of several theories on mathematics and astronomy, and also some of them are lost. I know now these days lots of people didn’t believe in astrology. But at that time Aryabhata developed some theories which make confusing to the scientist of this time. They are confusing about “how Aryabhata could do it at this much perfection at that time?”

The Mathematical part in  Aryabhatiya covers arithmetics, algebra, plane trigonometry, and spherical trigonometry. It also contains continued fractions, quadratic equations, some of the power series, and tables of sines.

The Arya-Siddhanta lost work known through the writings of Aryabhata’s contemporary. It mentioned a description of several astronomical instruments.

Aryabhatiya

The Aryabhatiya is written in the typical style of sutra literature. In which each line is an aid to memory for a complex system. The text content of the 108 verses and 13 introductory verses and also divided into 4 pada (Chapter).

Gitikapada (13 verses):- In which mentioned large unit of time.
Ganitapada (33 verses):- In which converting mensuration.
Kalakriyapada(25 verses):- Different unit of time and method for determining the position of planets.
Golapada (50 verses):- Geometric, Trigonometric aspects and also mention about Zodiacal signs on the horizon, etc.

Some great discoveries

  • discover zero
  • Place value system
  • Approximation of  π
  • Trigonometry
  • Indeterminate Equations
  • Algebra
  • Astronomy, Heliocentrism, Sidereal Periods
  • Motion Of Solar System
  • Mention Lunar Eclipses and Solar Eclipses

There is much more information is lost. Maybe some more Information or theories of Aryabhata we can found in our future. He was the most genius person on earth. Because in which period people could not know the style of living at that time he beat modern science and research.  For his zero, the science and mathematics came to at this stage. To give tribute to him India gave its first satellite name Aryabhata.
