We most of all heard about Stephen Hawking. Professor Stephen Hawking was a British scientist or author. He is a role model for many people. He proved that brainpower is the main power and if you have a strong desire, Then you can do anything in any situation. Stephen Hawking was born on 8 January 1942, which was exactly 300 years after Galileo’s Death. He always used a wheelchair to move around and a computerized mic to speak. But you don’t know he was not like this in his earlier days. He was very fit and fine like a common man in his initial days.
childhood
Stephen hawking born during the period of 2nd world war. That time Germany can bomb Britain at any time. Oxford was the only safe place left for them. So their parents came to Oxford. Stephen Hawking was the elder son of Frank hawking(Father) and Isobel Hawking(Mother). Then his parents gave birth to 2 more children in 1943 and 1956, They also adopt a child in 1956. That means they were 4 brothers and sisters. Stephen Hawking was very shy in nature from childhood, He never talks too much. He spent his time watching Hunny bees, playing board games and he likes to burn a fire in the greenhouse.
Academic Life
Stephen Hawking‘s father was a medical researcher Specialist in tropical diseases. His father wanted him to make his career in the medical field. But from childhood, he liked science and space. He always looked at the stars and the sky. He was a good student at the period of his academic days but not an excellent student. In fact, in St Albans School he got the 3rd position from last. But his mind used to work in other work activities. he created a computer by using the computer recycling parts with the help of his friends. They used that computer for solving complex mathematics.
At the age of 17 years, he joined Oxford University. He wanted to take mathematics but there was no specialized degree in mathematics. So that he chose Physics, Then he turned to cosmology subject. After completed his graduation with Natural Science honors in 1962, he joined Cambridge University for Ph.D. in Cosmology. In 1965 Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde got married. In 1968 he becomes a member of the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University. Then he started his research on theBlackhole. In 1974 he joined to Royal Society, Which is a worldwide fellowship of scientists. In 1974 he became Lucasian professor of mathematics at Cambridge University, which is famous for the academic chair in the world. sir Isaac Newton was the 2nd holder of the chair.
Stephen Hawking Fight with His Disease
At the age of 21, Stephen Hawking was infected with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. In which our control nerves system stop working. That’s for our body moved to paralyzed condition. When he was in Oxford, he realized that he was not perfectly fine. Because many times he falls down by walking and suddenly stopped by talking. But he ignores it till 1963.
In 1963 when his father saw his condition, he takes him to the doctor. After diagnosis, he was found by suffering Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The doctor told that he can be alive for the next 2.5 years only. At the time of his hospitalized, he decided that he will utilize all his remaining life. In an event he said that before his diagnosis, his life was boring, he couldn’t concentrate on study. But after diagnosis, when he found he can be alive for some days he focuses on his work and research.
As the disease progressed, he lost control of his body. In 1969 he could not walk then take the support of a wheelchair. Since mid of 1970, he could eat himself and for additional work, he was dependent on an assistant. Till that he could speak a little bit, that could be understood only by his closer persons. In 1985 he lost his voice. However, he was alive but his whole body was paralyzed and he could not move or speak. Then a computer programmer from California gave him a take to speech software which was control by his finger and eye movements. Only he had to choose the words which he wants to speak from the computer screen, the speech synthesizer converted into speech.
Stephen Hawking Research
He observed his whole life the lows which control our universe. Then at last he reaches the conclusion that our universe created from big-bank so it will be destroyed one day. By working with Roger Penrose he states by Albert Einstein’s theory on time-space that time-space comes after the universe so it will be destroyed into a black hole. He gave a revised solution in which he said that ” There is no black hole, at least in the way that Cosmologists traditionally understand them.” He also states that there is no boundary of our universe.
He told that the development of Artificial Intelligence will be dangerous for us. So we have to learn to control them. He also said ” Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risk”. He suggests that never try to find alien, Because if we found them and they would more powerful from us then they will destroy us or control us.
Stephen Hawking books
( A Brief History Of Time 1988 ) By this book, he wanted to give information to general masses about time and space.
(The Universe In A Nutshell 2001 ) Some people could not understand his 1st book A Brief History Of Time. So that he published this book, which very simply explains Cosmology.
( A Briefer History of time 2005 ) It was the updated version of A Brief History Of Time. He also introduces String theory in this book.
( The Grand Design 2010 ) In this Book, he opposes the statement “that the god created the Universe”. He states that everything created by the black hole. Lots of people ask him ” if there is no creator then who creates a black hole”. Then he simply replies that “Because there is low such as gravity. the universe can and will create itself from nothing.”
He also wrote some books for children with his daughter By imagining a child named George.
- George’s Secret Key to the Universe (2007)
- George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt (2009)
